November 6 We’re Giving Thanks at Canton First Friday
Before you sit yourself at the table and load up with more poultry and pumpkin pie than your little heart can bear, put your hands together, this November, for a show of thanks in the Canton Arts District.
Show your appreciation for the Canton Museum of Art and area artists by voting for your Canton Arts District All-Star until 8:30. Start off downtown by thanking Lynda Tuttle for her years in the Arts District before she closes her doors. Give thanks to the many artists who make us hungry for more like Joe Cortese at New Buzzbin, Adam McVicker at Journey, or Hugo Jimenez at The Hub. Thank the musicians playing in the coffee shops, galleries and bars like Wheatley Matthews at Muggswigz or Brothers Acoustic at Grapes in a Glass. Tip the waiters when you dine around town at one of our various fine dining choices like Basil, Benders, or Lucca.
Give your gratitude for the store owners who change things up every month without serving leftovers like Dress No Evil for their summer clearance or Colette’s Vintage for her collection of vintage aprons. Count your blessings and help make a difference by bringing your canned goods to Cheese Louise for their food drive, or an assortment of warm items to J. Albert Studios for their coat, gloves, hat, and socks drive. Give thanks for the art of collaboration when you visit Julz by Alan Rodriguez for Translations’ newest exhibit “Holidays in the Style of…”, Snarky Art for the monthly community art project, or the Joseph Saxton for the always touching Heart Gallery exhibit. And of course, don’t forget the Canton Palace for the free monthly flick, which this month is “Free Birds.”
So join the party and make Canton First Friday part of your weekend on November 6 in the Canton Arts District from 6-10pm. Download the map, plus additional details you may need at www.cantonfirstfriday.com. First Friday is presented by the downtown Canton Special Improvement District and ArtsinStark.
