May First Friday: Make Peace May
First Friday is a monthly downtown party that brings the whole community together! On May 5, the theme is Make Peace May! Bring the whole family to the downtown Canton Arts District to enjoy a night full of art, music, food, and fun!
Join Merging Hearts Holistic Center for a Native American ceremonial peace circle, which will evolve into a peace sign for a downtown Canton photo portrait.
Buy art, get cash! Buy $20 or more from your favorite downtown art studio or gallery, bring your receipt to the ArtsinStark Information center in the big, yellow First Friday tent on the corner of 4th Street and Court Avenue, and get $5 cash back instantly! Each $20 arts receipt gets you $5 cash until 9:45pm.
The Canton Museum of Art hosts their annual May Show & Ceramic Sale, featuring handmade functional and decorative pottery at affordable prices.
As you head downtown, pop into the Stark County District Library as they celebrate technology, science, art, and more with their second annual Maker Faire from 2-8pm.
Meet Gary Sirak, author of The American Dream Revisited from 7-9pm at Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre. Then head downstairs for an Anti-Bullying/Peace Poetry Reading with the Writing Knights in the theatre from 7-8:30pm.
First Friday means FREE Family Movie at the Canton Palace Theatre. Snuggle up with the family for “The Princess Bride” at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:30pm, and seating is first come, first served.
