These unscripted shows depend on audience suggestions. Scared Scriptless promises new games and new takes on classic fan favorites. About Scared Scriptless: Scared Scriptless has been performing since May 2006. In addition to their many Canton-area appearances (Akron Civic Theatre, First Friday, the Player’s Guild Theatre, the Kathleen Howland Theatre, The Auricle, First Row Centre for the Arts, Lions Lincoln Theatre), they have taught several workshops and classes to groups such as Stark County Job and Family Services, Leadership Stark County, Leadership Tuscarawas County, Dover Middle and High Schools, GlenOak High School drama groups. They have raised thousands of dollars for local non-profit organizations, including the Massillon Museum, the Walsh University Museum Studies Program, the Player’s Guild Theatre of Canton, and the historic Lions Lincoln Theatre in Massillon. Scared Scriptless began with an auditioned group of 14 members, which dwindled to a core group of 5 members who would perform with the group for many years after. In 2011 it became apparent that new members and new ideas were needed. Auditions yielded 4 new members of the group, who would debut in Scriptless’ first Fisticuffs battle royale performance. In 2015 they began adding music as a regular performance piece, creating songs from audience suggestions. Scared Scriptless led many workshops and even held “I’m Scared Too” open improv jams. They are also well-known from their days at Canton First Friday as the strange people helping folks cross the street safely and hilariously. Throughout the years many games and members have come and gone but the group still retains that spark of humor, provided by the audience’s suggestions.
