Beat the Winter Blues with Canton First Friday
Baby it’s cold outside, but the Canton Arts District has just the thing to get you out of your winter funk. Head downtown February 5 from 6-10pm for Canton First Friday’s Frosty Frolic!
Start at the Canton Museum of Art for new art exhibits. Join artist, Kristen Cliffel, for a special event “Cupcakes and Cocktails” from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Indulge in cupcake decorating as a fun activity for the whole family and then kick back and enjoy custom cocktails designed by the artist herself.
You could settle into your favorite downtown eatery for a hot dinner. How about the “Soup’s On” event at the Canton Woman’s Club where there will be plenty of warmth to go around. Cozy on the couch with a coffee from your favorite downtown coffee shop like Muggswigz, Carpe Diem, or Cultured Coffee, who has Saxy Rob from 7-9pm. Stop in for a spell at the Palace for the FREE family flick, “Jack Frost” at 7:30pm.
Let all the live music and new art get you fired up for the weekend. Head over to the newly reopened Snarky Art and Journey Studios for a few sunny surprises. View the unveiling of “Canton Connected: Past and Present” triptych painting by Judi Krew, participate in the Community Project “Great Square Inches of Art 2”, answer the Question of the Month, and shop for original clothing creations by Su Nimon and our other unique designers. The 3rd Space Art Gallery will be featuring three-dimensional and two-dimensional Art from Canton Local, Plain Local, and Canton City School Districts. Nate Keen and Kara Hula have come together to create a visual feast of Monsters and Madness at the Hub Art Factory. Join them for a Poetry Reading at 7:00pm with Meg Johnson who will be celebrating the release of her new book The Crimes of Clara Turlington.
If nightlife is what keeps you toasty, check out Buzzbin and George’s live music lineup, or relax with a glass of wine at Grapes in a Glass, with live music from Matt Basso. Live music won’t be in short supply with Brian Henke at the Joseph Saxton and Jared Lees at IKON Images.
And of course there’s plenty of shopping to be done at places like Second April, Just Imagine Gift Gallery and Colette’s Vintage, where vintage coats and sweaters are up to 50% off.
